French coffee roaster Cafés Folliet, a market leading family-run coffee brand in France with a 138-year history, introduced 

pioneering technology to the ground coffee it supplies to hotels in December 2017.

The ground filter coffee that Cafés Folliet supplies to hotels for their breakfast market was previously packaged in plain packaging without a valve. However, as consumers’ expectations for the quality of coffee began to increase, there was a growing need for the hotels to provide fresher, higher quality coffee – and that meant applying a valve to the pack.

Without any investment in new applicator equipment, valves or additional suppliers, Cafés Folliet switched customers have seen include reduced downtime and less production waste. Roasters running three shifts on one machine could save on average 280 hours of downtime and up to 10% cost savings annually thanks to increased production efficiency, depending on machine model and the type of hard valve being replaced.

It is up to 87% lighter than hard valves and allows energy savings by eliminating the need to power an applicator machine. This results in up to an 8% reduction in overall carbon footprint for a 250g pack.
