Development history of kraft paper bags

In 1908, the first kraft shopping bag was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. In order to promote the growth of turnover, a local grocery store owner, Water Duvina, began to find ways to make consumers buy more things at once. After repeated trials, he decided to use kraft paper as the material for the shopping bag.
The kraft paper bag is made from wood pulp with long wood fiber. The tight connection between the fibers makes the paper tough and withstands large tensile forces and pressures without breaking. The bottom of the paper bag is rectangular and has a larger capacity than a conventional V-bottom bag. Duvina named the shopping bag in his own name and applied for a patent in 1915. At this time, the annual sales volume of such shopping bags has exceeded 100 million.

After more than half a century, the development of kraft paper bags has been going smoothly. In 2006, McDonald’s in China gradually introduced a kraft paper bag with thermal insulation in all its stores to hold take-out food instead of plastic bags.
This move has also received positive response from other businesses. For example, Nike and other original plastic bag consumers have begun to use high-quality kraft paper bags to replace plastic shopping bags.

In 2007, China issued a notice to restrict the production and sale of plastic shopping bags. With the introduction of the plastic limit order, the development of kraft paper in the packaging industry was promoted. Nowadays, more and more people are starting to use kraft paper bags, which are environmentally friendly and can be used for a long time. This has contributed to the national resources and environmental protection.
